Sounding
by Hiroko Takeda
In the diptych “Sounding,” Takeda uses her knowledge of kasuri (Japanese ikat) to paint fluctuations in the surface seen through a textural grid. The gradations of color and texture were inspired by a trip along the fluctuating, dark, rocky coastline of the Sea of Japan.
